The short answer
We install wallpaper accent walls in Lighthouse Point homes, from helping you choose the right wall to prepping, measuring, and hanging the paper with matched seams and clean edges. Because South Florida stays humid much of the year, we plan materials, adhesives, and timing around the climate so the wall holds up.
An accent wall is one of the simplest ways to change how a room feels without redoing the whole space. In Lighthouse Point, where many homes have open layouts, bright natural light, and rooms that face the water or a backyard pool, a single papered wall can anchor a living area, frame a bed, or give a dining nook its own identity. Custom Wallpaper Installer is based in Pompano Beach, about a mile southwest of Lighthouse Point, so we're close by for site visits, measuring, and installation. We focus on getting one wall right: picking where it goes, preparing the surface properly, and hanging the paper so seams, pattern repeats, and edges look clean up close.
Choosing the Right Wall in a Lighthouse Point Home
The best accent wall is usually the one your eye lands on first when you walk into the room. In a living room, that might be the wall behind the sofa or the TV. In a bedroom, it's typically the wall behind the headboard. In open-plan homes, an accent wall can help define a dining or office area without adding a partition.
Light matters here. Many local homes get strong sun through large windows and sliding doors, which affects how colors and finishes read during the day. A metallic or high-sheen paper can look dramatic in the evening but glare in direct afternoon light. During a visit, we look at which way the room faces and how the light moves so you can pick a pattern and finish that works at all hours.
- Behind a bed, sofa, or built-in shelving
- A short wall in an entry or hallway that needs a focal point
- A dining area or breakfast nook within an open floor plan
- A powder room wall, where a bold pattern doesn't overwhelm
- A home office wall that shows up on video calls
Planning for South Florida Humidity
The Fort Lauderdale area has no fully dry season. From May through October it's hot, humid, and wet, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and even November through April isn't truly dry. Humidity affects how wallpaper adhesive cures and how some papers expand and contract, so it's part of how we plan every accent wall.
We check that the wall is dry and sound before we start, recommend papers and adhesives suited to humid conditions, and advise keeping the air conditioning running steadily during and after installation. For walls near bathrooms, kitchens, or exterior doors that get opened often, we'll talk through vinyl or coated options that handle moisture better than uncoated papers.
Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. If you're planning a project during those months, it's worth building some flexibility into the schedule, and if a home has had any water intrusion after a storm, the wall needs to be fully dried and checked before any paper goes up.
What Installation Involves
A good accent wall depends mostly on preparation. Textured walls, which are common in South Florida homes, can show through thinner papers, so we evaluate the texture and discuss whether skim coating or a liner is needed. We patch holes, remove or address old finishes, and prime the surface so the paper bonds well and can be removed later without damaging the drywall.
We then measure carefully and plan the layout so the pattern is centered on the wall or on a key feature, like a bed or fireplace, rather than starting arbitrarily from a corner. Seams are matched and placed to avoid awkward cuts around outlets, switches, and window trim.
- Site visit to look at the wall, texture, and lighting
- Help estimating rolls based on wall size and pattern repeat
- Surface repair, smoothing, and priming
- Layout planning to center the pattern
- Hanging, seam matching, and trimming at ceilings, baseboards, and fixtures
