About Custom Wallpaper Installer: How We Approach Wallpaper in Pompano Beach Homes
Custom Wallpaper Installer hangs wallpaper in homes in and around Pompano Beach. This page explains how we work: how we look at your walls, how South Florida's climate shapes our timing and materials, and what you can expect on the day we install. Wallpaper looks good for a long time when the prep is right, and that is where we put most of our attention.
We Start With the Wall, Not the Paper
Most wallpaper problems trace back to the surface underneath. Before we talk about patterns or seams, we check the walls in the room you want papered. We look for loose or glossy paint, patched areas, texture, nail pops, and any sign of moisture. In older homes we also check for layers of previous wallpaper.
Once we know what we're working with, we explain what the wall needs and why. Sometimes that's a light sanding and primer. Sometimes it means removing old paper, skim-coating texture, or waiting until a moisture issue is fixed. We'd rather tell you before work starts than have a seam lift a few months later.
- Walk through the room and note surface conditions
- Identify old wallpaper, texture, or damaged drywall
- Recommend the right primer for the paper you've chosen
- Flag moisture concerns that should be addressed first
Working With South Florida's Humidity
The Pompano Beach area has a tropical climate with no fully dry season. May through October is hot, humid, and wet, with frequent afternoon thunderstorms. November into April is warmer and drier. Humidity affects how paste cures and how some papers expand and shrink, so we plan around it.
In practice, that means we ask you to keep the air conditioning running before, during, and after installation so the room stays at a steady temperature and humidity. We let paper acclimate in the room when the product calls for it, and we choose adhesives suited to the material and the space. Bathrooms, laundry rooms, and rooms with exterior walls get extra attention.
Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. If a storm is approaching, or your home loses power and the AC goes down, we may suggest moving the install date. Hanging paper in a hot, damp room isn't worth the risk to your walls or your materials.
What Installation Day Looks Like
We treat your home like a lived-in space, because it is. We cover floors and furniture, move what needs moving with your OK, and keep our work area organized. Before we cut, we confirm the layout with you: where the pattern starts, where seams will fall, and how it will meet corners, windows, and doors.
We work from the paper manufacturer's instructions, whether you've chosen traditional pre-pasted paper, unpasted paper, peel-and-stick, grasscloth, or a mural. When we finish, we clean paste off trim and surfaces, remove our scraps, and walk the room with you so you can see the seams, edges, and outlets up close.
- Floors and furniture protected before work begins
- Pattern layout and seam placement reviewed with you
- Installation done per the manufacturer's directions
- Cleanup and a final walkthrough together
What to expect
How a visit goes
-
Preparation Comes First
Most wallpaper problems start with the wall, not the paper. We remove old coverings, repair dents and cracks, smooth textured areas where needed, and prime with a product suited to the wallcovering you've chosen.
-
Straight Answers About Materials
Grasscloth, vinyl, murals and peel-and-stick each behave differently in humid rooms, on ceilings and in direct sun. We'll explain the tradeoffs so you can pick a product that fits the space and how you live in it.
-
Respect for Your Home
We cover floors, move and protect furniture as needed, and keep the work area organized. At the end of the day, we clean up so your home is livable while the project is underway.
